Council of Scientific & Industrial Research Introduction Link: csir.res.in The unprecedented situation arisen due to the COVID-19 pandemic has posed multifarious S&T challenges. CSIR has responded to the situation with a well-coordinated and integrated approach in cooperation with all relevant stakeholders. CSIR is extending all possible R&D support to the industry and is also aligned to the Government’s strategy of mitigation of outbreak. Within the constraints of the lockdown in the country, the initiatives undertaken by CSIR so far can be broadly categorized under the five verticals: Digital and Molecular Surveillance; Rapid and Economical Diagnosis; Development of new drugs/repurposing of drugs; Hospital Assistive Devices and PPEs; and Supply chain and logistics. CSIR has developed 100+ technologies under these technology verticals and is working with about 100 industries. CSIR has nurtured industry for a long. Considering the long association of these industries with CSIR, they have come forward with much enthusiasm for the deployment of the technologies developed. CSIR has transferred about 60 technologies to industries that are available for deployment. VIBHA is a National Institution engaged in the cause of Bharatiya Heritage with a harmonious synthesis of physical and spiritual sciences which nourish each other and flourish together, rejuvenate the Swadeshi Movement in this age of science and technology for the purpose of national reconstruction, etc. among other aims and objectives. VIBHA with units in 22 states across the country can help enhance awareness about the CSIR contributions, especially for COVID mitigation. VibhaVani India initiative of Vijnan Bhsrathi is taking forward the CSIR technologies for societal development through social entrepreunership and livelihood development |
